This is a great place if you are looking for calm environment, nice people and the host, a bit of isolation and privacy and ocean litteraly in a jump from the bed... :)
During our few weeks in Guatemala we even stayed there twice as we liked it so much. We lived in wooden cottage with a little basic kitchen which we liked to use. The place doesn't have any AC etc, but it's not necessary, especially for the night. The beds have mosquito nets.
However, if you decide to stay there, don't miss a chance to take their PANCAKE for breakfast. Is the best one in all Guatemala (and we had so many of them during our 5 weeks travel...) :) Coffee for breakfast included... And if you like, you can also book for lunch or dinner as they cook that too.
Surf Camp is a bit further from other hotels and hostels on the beach which makes it a silent oasis. In the same time, it is just two minutes walk to the local (grocery) stores...
There is no wifi, so if you plan to do a little working "from home" there (as we did), go ready with charged data to make your own hotspot or just walk for a coffee or drink to near by locations...
Also, there is a church in a close neighbourhood, so especially in the evening you'll have a little cultural insight into never tired worshiping by music and singing... :)
chilled and comfortable place for couples and singles. The food was very tasty and healthy, the pool, bathrooms and rooms very clean, and the surfing lesson amazing! I had a great instructor Chrissman!
Wonderful place to forget the rest of the world and enjoy the present! In the mornings and evenings you can order food from a cook that usually tastes great. The owner also gives beginners helpful surfing tips. Stayed longer than expected :)
Nice clean place, but I do have a minor complaint. that mosquito net was not perfect. I couldn’t get it to fully stay on my bed. Also, if you’re a light sleeper, be mindful that the ocean is right near nearby. I actually don’t sleep well right near the ocean. The waves woke me up around 3 AM.
I had never spent 7 nights in the same place!
It was a really chill and nice way to end my trip in Mexico & Guatemala.
Really calm place, clean and literally by the beach.
Maybe the restaurant could offer something more, at least some natural juices.
And renting a surf board wasn’t always easy, as they don’t have many and don’t want to risk if the waves are not perfect. But I made it :)
Calm and cute surfcamp. The owner is really nice and helps you with everything when he is around. Unfortunately we had a lot of Moskitos (probably due to rainy season and the location which is close to the mangroves), otherwise we could have enjoyed it more!
A buddy and I shared a private bungalow. Beautiful, but a bit expensive for Guatemala. The food was great. Nice pool. Lots of hammocks. Very friendly staff. I didn't see any drunks, a big plus.
„Beauty in simplicity“ is maybe the best way to describe this place.
Very relaxed atmosphere, best hammocks right at the beach and a beautiful natural garden.
This place is so lovely and relaxed, right on the beach with fun uncrowded waves. The garden is very charming and they even have a yoga deck! The atmosphere is chilled and the owner super nice.
Laid-back and familial, right at the beach. Love the little huts and the hammocks! Great homecooked food (vegan options possible). If you are looking for a cozy time to relax and reading books, this is the place to stay.
